Why should I join EMeRG?

EMeRG is a student-run EMS agency at GW, offering students the opportunity to hone their emergency medicine, clinical, and operational skills at their home away from home—GW. More than just a volunteer role, EMeRG fosters a tight-knit community dedicated to mutual support. From mentorship programs to alumni connections, and academic and social events, EMeRG is a place where students can grow both professionally and personally—not just as EMTs, but as human beings.

EMeRG is designed with student schedules in mind. Unlike other volunteer organizations, we offer flexible shifts as short as three hours, making it easy to balance with coursework and other commitments. For students living on campus or in the nearby Foggy Bottom area, our office is just a short walk away. Additionally, EMeRG provides monthly CME courses, free CPR recertification, and NREMT recertification for all members. We also cover the cost of obtaining a DC Department of Health EMT certification for all members.
