The George Washington University Emergency Medical Response Group (EMeRG) is a student-run volunteer organization licensed to provide Basic Life Support (BLS) and serve the GW Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses.
We serve the George Washington University during the academic year with one crew in service 24/7 stationed at the Foggy Bottom campus, responding to calls at both the Foggy Bottom and Mount Vernon campuses.
EMeRG is a nonprofit BLS transport unit providing free transport services on every call with no limit to the amount of times we will transport a student. We are trained to respond to all manners of calls including musculoskeletal injuries, gastrointestinal complaints, altered mental statuses, suicidal ideations and sexual assault victims.
Every member on EMeRG is a nationally licensed Emergency Medical Technicians at the Basic level or higher and is registered to operate as an EMT in the District of Columbia.
EMeRG has a close relationship with many other organizations on campus; therefore, standby support is provided for many events on campus including basketball games hosted at the Smith Center. EMeRG also provides standby medical care during training exercises for the University Police Department. We actively look for and welcome any opportunity to engage in community outreach activities.
We prioritize continual training of skills for our members which include monthly Continuing Medical Education classes and biweekly training initiatives to ensure a high quality standard of care. EMeRG also gives members the opportunity to become certified CPR instructors and IPMBA bike certified EMTs.
