To be able to recertify as an EMT-B in Washington, D.C. an EMT is required to complete at least 24 hours of continuing education per year, in addition to a 24 hour refresher course. A Nationally Registered EMT-B is required to complete 48 elective hours, in addition to the 24 hour refresher. It is because of these requirements, and the desire to continually make better the services which we provide, that EMeRG offers Continuing Medical Education courses to its members. EMeRG, because of our close ties to the emergency medical community, is pleased to announce that through a mutual understanding, members of EMeRG and The Georgetown Emergency Response Medical Service (GERMS) can now attend CMEs offered by both organizations.
EMeRG offers monthly continuing education courses with topics ranging from infectious diseases to mass-casualty incidents to blood-borne pathogens, and anything inbetween. Our courses are generally three hours long and are broken down into one hour of didactic lesson, one hour of psychomotor lesson, and one hour of case study.
EMeRG is currently working to open its continuing education classes to the public, you can find some of the CMEs that we have offered on the News page. Check back soon to see if courses have been made available.
